French Island is Victoria’s largest island, located in Western Port. This peaceful off-grid eco-tourism destination invites visitors to explore, hike, cycle, watch wildlife and stay among nature.

French Island General Store & Café is the beating heart of the island and a welcoming base for visitors. Open from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week throughout the year except Christmas Day, it operates as a licensed café, general store and visitor information hub.

Visitors can enjoy dine-in or takeaway meals, barista coffee and refreshments, browse local produce, French Island wine, handmade soaps and souvenirs, collect free maps and local advice, hire an e-bike or stay in one of three unique accommodation options. The store also provides groceries, drinks, camping supplies, fuel, postal services and other essentials.

Courtesy transport is available for eligible customers, and organised group visits can also be arranged.

French Island can be reached by passenger ferry from Cowes or Stony Point, or by vehicle barge from Corinella. Visit for a day trip or stay longer to enjoy its wildlife, natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.
